Safety first. BMW introduced a new system of care during a left turn that is being tested on the new 5 Series. This is an important device that allows those behind the wheel to perform a maneuver correctly and safely when the vehicle turns, when you enter the circulation or when invading the opposite lane.
A third camera and laser scanner able to detect the presence of other vehicles, various types of obstacles or other atmospheric phenomena that impede the view to the driver. All within 100 meters. If the system detects a dangerous maneuver of the driver just after one of these events will be activated automatically in the braking system, thus avoiding an accident, even with a sound and light on the dashboard.
Below 10 km / h this mechanism is turned off automatically. This device is integrated with another - WLAN car-to-x - that allows the exchange of information between vehicles, warning others of its presence in the vicinity, within a radius of up to 250 meters. It is still a rather complex mechanism - but easy to implement on the road - which means that sensors and computers on the BMW of the future should assess the direction and speed of surrounding vehicles and the one on which are mounted, action - if necessary - brakes, lights, horn and automatic driving emergency can drive the car at the roadside in a safe place.
