Audi starts production Q3

The official go-ahead for production of the Audi Q3 fallen. Starting today, the compact SUV with the four rings in the Seat plant in Martorell is produced in Catalan. About 100 of the 000 units a year in Q3 to run three shifts off the line. Overall, Audi and Seat have invested about 330 million euros in infrastructure and production facilities.

A new body shop with 450 robots has advanced to an area of 30 000 square meters specially erected for the Q3. For the first time to use there is the so-called "roof bell" - a unique development in the Audi tool shop in Ingolstadt. A robot picks up the roof and then set it exactly, while a second already holds the roof bell for the following roof of the next body.

The Audi Q3 will be complementary as a small, sporty SUV, the Q-family of Q5 and Q7. The Q3 taxiing to the runway with three four-cylinder engine versions, one and two TDI TFSI. They deliver between 103 kW / 140 PS and 155 kW / 211 PS. First tickets go on sale in June for Europe. The launch is planned in the fourth quarter of this year.
