The manufacturer Spyker is developing a new small car that will bring the Dutch manufacturer in the world of racing with a car based on the 8-cylinder C8 Aileron push the Corvette ZR1. If 2011 will be a transition year in 2012, the Spyker cars are back on track in the new category GTE, proposing any private teams interested in achieving a competitive vehicle.
If the application had to be quite sustained (several requests have come from Europe and Far East) could be also developed a version compatible with the rules of the league organized by the FIA GT3. "We've taken a sabbatical from racing - said the director of Spyker Squadron Peter Van Erp - to focus on the development of a new GT, instead of continuing to spend money on a car at the end of its cycle of development." This new car (which will be called C8 Aileron GT) will replace the current C8 Laviolette GT2R, who competed for 3 years with very encouraging results.
