BMW M6 CSL and X5 rear-wheel drive: the deprecated

Did you know that BMW had produced a CSL version of the "old" M6 E63 E53 X5 and a rear-wheel drive? The first was conceived as a version of testosterone to the beautiful German supercoupè. The recipe was the classic one: -100 kg of weight, aerodynamics prettier (especially on the bottom of the car) and a dose of extra power from the powerful 5.0 V10 high rpm.

Unfortunately the car, having been built in its details, has been "quashed" by the German leadership. Today it is part of the "Collection M" by the manufacturer. But the top of the giant Munich have rejected also the first BMW SUV-only rear-wheel drive: it was built on the basis of the first generation X5 and was powered by a V8 engine combined with an SMG.

At the time the abandonment of the project was caused by a formal problem: they wanted to preserve the badge "X" for cars with four-wheel drive only. A decision recently reviewed the X1, also available in s-Drive rear-wheel drive.
