Leaf Nissan World Car of the Year 2011

At New York Auto Show, Nissan Leaf won the "World Car of the Year 2011" in front of the BMW 5 Series and Audi A8. This recognition follows the one obtained at the end of November 2010 when he was elected Car of the Year for Europe, the first time an electric vehicle. The judges of the World Car awards have stated that "Leaf is the way to Nissan to the creation of a world power." Already delivered - at different times - in the U.S., Japan and Europe, this is a Japanese 5-door 5-seater with a separate declaration of 175 km, obtained after a charge of 8 hours in a normal socket 220 Volt.

The launch in other markets, including Italy, should take place during 2012. The award "World Car of the Year", born in 2004, saw the vehicles in contention selected by a jury composed of 66 most influential journalists from 24 countries of Asia, Europe and North America. The Leaf is currently being built at Nissan's Oppama, Japan, but is also produced in the plant in Smyrna, Tenn., in late 2012 and into the Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom at the beginning of 2013.
