On his visit to the state convention of the Junge Union in Langen Hessen EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger of the Frankfurt airport went by electrically driven Ampera. Oettinger was impressed by the smoothness and good pulling power of the electric-Opel and wrote on the body, the words: "Good luck for the electrical mobility from Rüsselsheim" The Ampera is an extended-range electric car.
In pure electric mode, the vehicle routes to travel 40-80 miles. For longer distances, the Ampera a power generator on board, fed by a small-volume combustion engine. Launch of the Opel Ampera in December this year.
