BMW: the three-cylinder for the 3 Series is not a priority

The first models will also benefit from cheaper, defined as "price sensitive". Among these is outside the 3 Series next-generation, three-cylinder engines that "not a priority". Klaus Draeger, head of development for the BMW brand, has denied that the introduction of a 3 Series F30 with 3L engine, option date as possible in recent months and now suddenly sank.

The small three-cylinder will thus brought to debut the new front-wheel drive models. Draeger has also revealed some technical characteristics of these engines, including the displacement of 1,500 cc "slices" (each measuring cylinder, a 500 cc) and the specific power of 55 hp cylinder, for a total of about 165 hp.

BMW: tri-turbo engine for the new M3?

The rumors reported in recent weeks are confirmed in the last article by Auto Express, which actually adds further credibility to an argument by the uncertain contours. BMW would in fact working on a six-cylinder petrol engine supercharged with three turbochargers (two mechanical and one electric), capable of providing a power quantified at 450 hp.

This engine is then used by the new X3 M3 and M, which will debut in 2014 and 2013, respectively.
