It was recently made official the news of the acquisition by the Fiat Group, 50% of the shares of VM Motori, a company known Cento (Ferrara), until now owned by General Motors and Penske Corporation. From the latter Fiat bought the shares in VM Motori, which specializes in the design of diesel engines, the company will be under joint management of Fiat and General Motors, which share equally the two halves of the stock.
Fiat in a press release said that this acquisition "further enhances its portfolio of technologically advanced products with diesel engines for various applications, including automotive, such as the V6 engine developed recently." Fiat and General Motors will operate with VM Motori, continuing its business relationship with VM Motori same as always done so far, from the supply of diesel engines to the engineering services.
All pre-existing relationships between General Motors, Fiat Group and VM Motori will remain unchanged, this is what has been assured by senior management. We'll see maybe in the near future a turbodiesel V6 Alfa Romeo?
