Claw back a stolen car is not every day, then if the car was stolen the first 36 years is likely to have the same owner or almost forgotten. It happened the same when an American lady of New Jersey is having contact from the police saying they had found his stolen Camaro SS in 1975. The reaction of the lady was understandable disbelief, so much so that he thought it was a joke and he hung up the phone handset in the face of the officer who had called her.
When contacted by the police again, this time in person, the owner pointed out the car, calling it simply "an old car," and then somehow convinced to take the practice to regain possession of the vehicle. The Camaro was sold recently on eBay in such a California resident Keith Williams, who, however, knowing the real value of a Camaro SS, 1969, he felt "burnt smell" and had turned to the local police to try to clarify the source of the car.
Do the research, staff were able to connect the old Camaro in question with a complaint of a stolen car in 1975 in Newark, eventually, as we saw, to return the vehicle, which had meanwhile seen the replacement of original engine with a V8 427, to their rightful owner. And so the Camaro SS is back home after 36 years long adventure.
Police are now trying to find the author of the theft leaving the user who made the ad on eBay, but it will surely be a walk to reconstruct the possible changes of ownership that the car may have suffered the past three decades and passes.
