The University of Warwick just outside the British city of Coventry, is working to establish a sound system for electric cars, and then develop a dossier to be presented in Brussels. The aim is to legislate to that effect, forcing the automakers who build zero-emission models to equip their cars under artificial noise that can warn pedestrians and other vehicles of their presence otherwise silent.
At this point we must decide only the features you want for that sound, like a car engine or a completely different sound? The only thing that seems ruled out is the adoption of ringtones like Star Wars and other sci-fi movie as it tries to produce effects that are mentally connected to a vehicle in motion, perhaps forcing the Case of a uniform noise .
At the same time, however, would like to avoid making too much noise those cars whose value, in addition to not require gasoline, it is the silence. Nissan, for example, has already announced it will install the small speakers sound under the hood of their power while Audi is aiming instead to install a hissing sound similar to that of the RSQ for the film "I Robot" on its A1 and R8-tron and e- tron.
An EU law to that effect could be approved by the end of this year.
