I have now taken part in 19 oder20 Mille Miglia (MM) with Mercedes and am amazed every year how much this event strikes us in their spell. It is hard, you sleep in two nights, no more than four to five hours. The heat in the cars is very difficult for one, and the hotels are so beautiful that it always with schwerfaellt, they leave in the morning again.
If we believe drivers that we have caught the stressful end of the MM, we are well advised to consider again the situation of the mechanics and the accompanying staff, get every night until late in the cars from us and then with a long list of must confront things that we want to see gentlemen drivers improved overnight.
Our fatigue is caused by late food, showers and night talks, but only just getting up. At night you can feel the driving stress and likes to talk about it. The screwdrivers are then in the morning because the car keys and wish a good day. Nice right? The MM is just a grown event for decades, used to drive very fast, now slow, at any rate, if you want to win.
Many of the spectators standing at the roadside yet know the right race, have strong emotional ties to the cars and of course the driver's heroes at that time. Great if you experience this, as the sympathy of many, many viewers is not meaningless. These are not mere decency to applaud the more or less affluent participants in the most beautiful cars that you can imagine.
I take the pleasure with a Mercedes SS 1930, co-driver was none other than Giacomo Agostini, 15x motorcycle world champion, who is in Italy so incredibly popular that the people the car mobbed, as soon as we were, "Prego Ago, Photo! Fai una firma per favore. " This went on all the time.
Ago it was with great humor. He is a very good driver, well, to deal with but getting used to driving forces and qualities switching characteristics. But the Futa Pass and down to Bologna Raticosa haggard but his strength and he was happy to let me back in the driving seat. Lucky with the weather we had.
Because on Monday after the MM, it was pouring. Incidentally, it won a Mr. Ferrari Bugatti. (Ampnet / jm)
