There is a perfect sports car? It 'hard to answer affirmatively to this question very often also the most incredible supercars have that little "new" that makes perfect. Autocar Yet, one of the world's largest automotive magazine, tried to imagine the perfect sports with and render technical details.
Since we believe it is impossible to find a 'aesthetic universally appreciated (and really perfect), is under the dress of this hypothetical virtual cars that hide more or less interesting features. According to the British magazine the ultimate in sports car race would be a mid-engine spiders, weighing not more than 1000 kg and with a price of just over € 40,000.
So far no objection, as the basis for driving enjoyment are all high-level and most importantly at a price still "human." According to Autocar everything should be seasoned with a electronic gearbox with paddles behind the steering wheel, but no ESP. The engine? The original VW V6 TDI 250 hp to keep down fuel consumption and emissions.
Engine that delivers very high level (0-100 in 4.5 and a top speed close to 250 km / h) combined with low power consumption (around 4.7L/100 km). If all this seems a little far as possible in the light of the price, listen to hear how the body should be made car: hybrid frame with aluminum and steel body panels in fiberglass and CFRP.
Personally, I find that, regardless of the company trademark, is really difficult to engineer a vehicle that features at a price premium sedan with 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine. For charity, hope is always the last to die, but objectively it would be like hoping to buy a brand-new GT3 RS at the price of a Boxster.
More or less the proportion is this. I also think this car still does: first, that makes us the perfect sporting a diesel engine? I would like a nice petrol, even if only 4-cylinder: the same power even at the sacrifice of some Nm lot of talk about a car of 1000 kg, with the petrol, something would weigh even less.
Want to put the sound and the satisfaction of starting to pull the engine where the turbo instead has given us everything? Second, why build a car without ESP or other electronic aids? There is not any kind of tangible benefit in terms of weight, nor in terms of safety on public roads. A device with threshold Partial and totally disabled is definitely the correct way forward.
Third, but where are the manual transmissions? We welcome the change and their electro guncotton. But why deprive those who want the pleasure of driving around with three pedals and shift lever? Possible that only a few Porsches and other manufacturers continue to believe in the manual even for the most extreme sports? And how do you think should be the perfect sports? Write your ideas in the comments: a few days we will write the second car perfect community of Autoblog.
