Shortly before its launch, the new Porsche Cayenne S won hybrid already an unexpected success. In parallel with its full-hybrid drive, he won the Intercity rally at the eleventh Michelin Challenge Bibendum, an international forum for sustainable mobility, which was held this year in Berlin. Second place went to a 911 Carrera with conventional internal combustion engine, proving that Porsche models generally are much more efficient way than you would credit them.
The two Porsche models were at Inter City rally in the class of production vehicles with internal combustion engine against 14 competitors from. In this class, both vehicles were evaluated with conventional diesel and gasoline engines as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Besides the fuel economy and acceleration and lap times were measured on a handling course.
These tests were more uniformity in the course of the 300-kilometer rally southwest of Berlin. With CO2 emissions of 159 g / km of the 380-hp Cayenne S hybrid model with the lowest emissions in the entire Porsche range. This represents an average fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km in the NEDC.
The demonstration of such values with rolling resistance tires from Michelin, which are optional. But even with the standard tires, the fuel consumption of the new Porsche hybrid model is 7.1 l/100 km in the NEDC - corresponding to 167 g / km CO2 - in this class on a previously unprecedented low level.
With their double victory prove both Porsche models that the optimal mix of efficiency and driving dynamics also in a competition that takes place with sustainability in mind, is capable of winning. (Ampnet / Sm)
