Villa d'Este 2011: auction undertone for the Lancia Stratos Zero

Unexpected results auction organized by the 2011 RM Auction at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. The concept car from Bertone sold to cover the plight of ECOM, were tendered to figures lower than assumed, despite the rarity of the pieces hit. The biggest surprise came from the sale of the Lancia Stratos Zero prototype based Fulvia HF created by Bertone in 1970: the model that inspired the design of the legendary Lancia Stratos was sold for "only" € 761,600, compared to almost two million initial assessment.

The reason for the significant devaluation remains a mystery, but surely the new owner by single Piedmontese made by coach builder put in the garage a rarity on four wheels. Figures also bearish for the 1963 Chevrolet Testudo, designed by Giugiaro on a Chevrolet Corvair, won a € 366,000 against € 700,000 assumed by the auction house, the Lamborghini Bravo 1974, concept car designed by Bertone and derived from Urraco , was beaten to € 588,000, while the 1980 Lamborghini Athon has changed hands for € 347,200.

Different fates for the Lamborghini Marzal: the curious four-seater with gull-wing doors in 1967 came from the pencil of Marcello Gandini, the precursor of the Espada, was sold for € 1,512,000, bringing the prices than originally planned. Different figures but in line with expectations for the 1978 Lancia Hiss: the concept cars on mechanical Stratos with a longer wheelbase of 10 cm was sold for € 95,200.
