These spy shots depict the new Mercedes SL during some testing at the Nurburgring. In detail, judging from the aerodynamic, from tailpipes and the wheel assembly, we should be confronted with a forklift of the future SL55 AMG: the return of this symbol appears assured given the gradual abandonment of the 6.2 naturally aspirated V8 in favor of 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, available on the E-Class AMG version 525 and 557 hp, with torque of 700 Nm to 800 and Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission.
The new SL project code R231, will debut during the 2012 (yet to clarify the possible presence in Frankfurt) and will follow the trend initiated by the new SLK, then drawing the outside and inside the SLS supercar, but will also offer a new aluminum platform that promises a significant weight savings compared to the past, while maintaining the folding metal roof: the engine range should not seem surprising, taking advantage of the latest proposals at 6 and 8 cylinders when you arrive at CLS and E-Class The new SLK is expected even a 4-cylinder diesel, I wonder if some engineer from Stuttgart has proposed the use of 3-liter 265 hp V6 diesel, perhaps it would be really too much for Gran Turismo as the SL.
