Electric cars: BMW North America CEO of faux pas

The BMW North America CEO Jim O'Donnell has risked a big statement about power, at the Detroit Motor Show. As reported by MotorAuthority, let slip a comment about the rather pessimistic zero-emission car, stating that at present 90% of users were satisfied with the autonomy available. Despite the swift apology, it is undeniable that a similar statement clashes with the great development work that BMW is doing, with the launch of the brand "the BMW" and the presentation of Minie and ActiveE, with fleets of vehicles already in for clients and even the launch of Evolve software for the analysis of their habits and verification of possible "compatibility" with the electric car.

BMW Evolve an App to test electric car

BMW BMW has made available to Evolve, a free app that simulates the use of an electric car on Apple and Android. The software analyzes the daily journey by car endothermic, through the internal GPS of the device, considering the range of 100 miles (160 km) of an electric car, demonstrating to consumers when and how much a car of this kind is suited to their needs .

The software also simulates the charge in a stationary position and provides a number of useful statistics to further analyze their habits and operating costs, information is also sent to the parent to collect information about its customers and potential future developments of the new Bmw range i.

BMW and i3 i8: Videos

Official video dedicated to the newly introduced BMW brand of home: the first two cars to bear the new brand, expected in 2013, will supply the i3, formerly known as Megacity, and i8 plug-in hybrid, the standard version of the Vision EfficientDynamics 2009. BMW ConnectedDrive Vision: official video

BMW released the official video dedicated to the newly presented ConnectedDrive Vision which will be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show. The car, which inaugurates a new styling for the home in Monaco, is the prototype of a compact 2-seater roadster that anticipates the production model (shown so far as "Z2"), expected in 2013.

BMW ActiveE Electric Vehicle: video

Video dedicated to the new BMW ActiveE Electric Vehicle. The car is completely electric, is capable of an output of 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 9 seconds, while its lithium ion batteries to provide a range of about 160 km in urban conditions of use. Top speed is electronically governed to 144 km / h.

Like the Mini E, also ActiveE will soon be usable in 1000 copies in certain markets in Europe, China and the United States. The battery pack (liquid cooled), including the transmission and differential, weighs just 90 kg and is housed on the rear axle (with the motor), as amended for the occasion.
