To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the legendary BMW 328, the House of Bavaria presented at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2011, 328 BMW Hommage concept car, modern interpretation of one of the most famous cars of the last century. Founded in 1936 as a racing car and became unbeatable on any track until the Second World War, the 328 roadster was one of the most beautiful and fascinating of all time, in addition to being one of the most sophisticated cars of the '30s, both As regards the aerodynamic solutions for the choice of lightweight materials.
Behind the project that made the 328 an unbeatable car on the track and later on public roads, it was a thorough study of the aerodynamic parts and the use of certain durable, lightweight materials for the structure and the body of the car, as such as aluminum and magnesium were able to contain the overall weight of 780 kg within the Bavarian roadster.
The prototype 328 Hommage like its predecessor body sports a super light, but instead of aluminum used by its ancestor, the "Hommage" exploits a massive carbon fiber and CFRP as well as having a functional purpose, is adorned with the livery of the car, but also the interior of futuristic motorcycle where there is mold, combined with carbon, fine leather upholstery and items in brushed aluminum, glossy brown.
The muscular forms and decided to paint a modern and compelling - especially in the back - not forgetting numerous references to the past and, more importantly, stressing sportiness in every detail of the car and his propensity for simplicity. As for the mechanical part, the only information issued by the German manufacturer is using a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine - the maximum power unknown - mounted front and rear wheel drive coupled to the classic.
