Lagonda: Ulrich Bez reveals the future of the brand

Two years after the presentation of the Lagonda luxury SUV, unveiled as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2009, 'Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin - Ulrich Bez - explained in detail the plan for the revitalization of the historic mark, a long interview to the British press. Founded in 1906 in Staines, England, the Lagonda was a registered independent until 1947, when it was bought by Aston Martin.

Between 1976 and 1989, the name Lagonda was setup using for the construction of a luxury sedan called just Aston Martin Lagonda. Then go back to talking about it was not until the 2008 Lagonda, when the leaders of the English House revealed its intention to give birth to an unprecedented range of luxury cars signed the historic mark, this time made by the independent Aston Martin.

The purpose of the new brand will be to explore new market niches, as demonstrated by the prototype SUV presented at the Geneva event. According to Bez, the revival of the Lagonda brand will debut the two or three new models to be launched in the coming years. The first will be precisely characterized by a crossover sport luxury finishes and quality: this car is in fact characterized by a sporty interior with four seats, powerful engines, large 21-inch wheels and a chassis from the low center of gravity.

Lagonda SUV's task will be to tackle the difficult competition from the likes of Marks and fellow German Audi Range Rover, BMW and Mercedes. It was with that mark, you might be a partnership for the exchange of technical know-how necessary for the implementation of the brand new cars with AWD.

Under the hood of the new model will place the powerful V12 utilizzatosulle other Gran Turismo Gaydon House, while not mutually exclusive at a later time using the latest technology as a scheme or a hybrid type of power such as flexible flexfuel. The second model will be on site instead of a multi-purpose vehicle featuring luxury finishes, a four-wheel drive and a chassis adapted to travel the roads impassable, so as to achieve a certain kind of wealthy clients, such as Russian and Arabic, but also China and South America.

Instead it seems more uncertain the launch of a luxury saloon with the Lagonda brand, capable of addressing the domain of Rolls Royce and Bentey. In the past there was talk of a possible collaboration between Aston Martin and Maybach brand - owned by the Mercedes - but on this topic, a number of Aston did not want to tip the balance.
