From the standpoint of automotive design, the small size of the whole fact reduce the size of the wheel arches, the space available inside the vehicle (engine, interior and trunk) increases, without having to resize it.
At Challenge Bibendum in Berlin there was talk of electric cars, and it is no coincidence that Michelin has a tire model "high & tight" for electric vehicles. The latter has a diameter greater than today's common car tires (155/70R19), resulting in greater energy efficiency. The power savings can then be up to 10%, because, thanks to the larger diameter and a width of less that improve aerodynamics, tire requires less laps to advance.
Adhesion and durability are also improved. In addition to consumption, this dimensional evolution allows to rethink the design of the vehicle.
