Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever built." When it debuted at the Geneva Motor Show March 15, 1961, the Jaguar E-Type drew the attention of the public and professionals who admire the compact passenger compartment, the long bonnet, wheel rims and, in general, the modern line . In fact, the design of the designer, Malcolm Sayer, is topical even today, half a century after its birth, since it's on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
After the 75 years since the birth of a Jaguar, so here is another anniversary to celebrate 50 years of the model, the British House has scheduled a series of special events that start right from the upcoming Geneva Motor Show 2011 (March 3 to 13) , which will feature an area dedicated to the car.
During the summer, Jaguar will celebrate its "E" in the United Kingdom during the "Festival of Speed" (June 30-July 3) and the Silverstone Classic (22-24 July), but also in California at the Pebble Beach Concours d ' Elegance (Aug. 21) and in Germany during the three days on the track of Nurburgring Old Timer Grand Prix (August 12 to 14).
The E-Type was produced in about 70,000 specimens, many of whom ended up in the hands of actors and celebrities of all kinds, which have made a sort of status symbol. Mounted on a 6-cylinder engine from 269 hp in-line, which allowed up to 240 km / h.
