Volvo has announced plans to participate with its C30 Electric in an experimental project called Continuous Electric Drive to be undertaken by some experts in the Flanders' Drive, a Belgian team of engineers specialized in the development of innovative solutions to the world of four wheels. Specifically Volvo C30 will provide an Electric that will be modified by the technicians to receive wireless recharging unit in charge: A battery of 24 kWh estimates should fully recharge in about 100 minutes.
"The goal of the project - explains Johan Konnberg, project manager of special vehicles division at Volvo - is to make it possible to have a convenient vehicle to power." The idea works like this. In inductive charging process is placed under the asphalt a plate made of a coil that generates the magnetic field.
When the car is parked over the plate, the energy is transferred without physical contact to pick up the car. The energy in question is sent into alternating current (AC) and is then converted by the car itself to be absorbed in real time from the battery pack. The project aims to demonstrate a range of electric vehicles such as trams, buses and cars the effectiveness of transfers of large amounts of energy in static and dynamic, the technical capabilities of all vehicles to recharge in the typical conditions of the urban environment, the full system compatibility with security standards in terms of EMC standards.
