BMW has developed a new four-cylinder engine that uses technology TwinPower Turbo, the turbocharged version of the previously adopted on the 6 line in three liters. The first model that will be equipped with the new X1 xDrive28i who has just made its debut in Canada. The engine has a displacement of 2 liters, an output of 248 hp and maximum torque of 350 Nm compared to the three-liter naturally aspirated and is currently available in capacities of 204 and 258 hp, is most comparable to the latter view downsizing that will characterize the next production which will extend from the Bavarian Series 1 to 5.The technology is not new in TwinPower Turbo BMW but it is the first time it is applied to a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, the engine takes a turbo twinscroll (characterized by two separate pipes for supply of gas to the turbine) which allows high efficiency and quick throttle response, the X1 with this drive accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km / h.
At the same time, the car equipped with six-speed manual transmission, fuel consumption is reduced by 16%, with an average of 12.6 km / liter.
