The BMW you drive with your mobile phone

Film lovers and James Bond will remember when Tomororrw Never Dies agent 007 was driving a powerful BMW 750i through your mobile phone. The film, dated 1997, presented a decidedly futuristic technology is possible only in movies. At least until now. Two young programmers in fact Japanese have decided to emulate (in part) the deeds of the world's most famous secret agent armed with ideas and skills were able to drive a car or mobile phone.

With the Nokia C7, a next-generation smartphones is installed on the Symbian operating system, and application developed by them have driven a BMW 1 Series Remote. All this took just 20 working days, during which the two young men have experienced their first invention on smaller items, home air conditioner, a lighting system, a toy car in scale and then "go" until the real car proper.

The application acts on the steering and throttle (the car had obviously used the automatic transmission) with some modifications to the ECU. I wonder if this application will have a future or it will remain only a fascinating experiment.
