Beijing: the way the lottery registrations

During 2010, 240,000 residents of Beijing will win the lottery. Unfortunately for the fortunate, however, no mention of Superenalotto or piles of money that allow you to change your life and not work more: it is just win a chance to register a car. Yes, because in the Chinese capital, there is a real race to the purchase of 4 wheels, whereas the traditional bikes have now found a place in the cellar.

The authorities, however, to limit the number of vehicles traveling on the decrepit road network - which also has been renewed and expanded - agreed to establish a lottery to extract broadcast live on television, in order to avoid any complaints about cheating. The first extraction of 2011, when registrations will necessarily be one third of those of 2010, was held yesterday and saw the first 17,600 lucky toast to "luck." The municipal government of Beijing, moreover, is very concerned about the congestion situation, since we are talking about a city which has 10.5 million inhabitants in the municipality, while only 4 or 5 million live in the immediate vicinity.

The mayor repeats what is already happening in Shanghai, where city with a population of 1 million more a metropolitan area and among the largest in the world, one third of the vehicles in the capital since a few years ago adopted the policy of lottery for the registration of cars.
