Toyota Verso 1.4 D-4D-S: MPV in the sixteenth

'The new To-S is a continuation of the Yaris Verso, a small MPV production output in 2007. This segment is growing strongly in Europe, and Toyota will have a car that operates with its role as a precursor. The Verso is 3.99 long me well suited to the city, given the high visibility from the cockpit basically guaranteed top.

It does not have an impression that the face stand out but it is rather anonymous but harmonious. It has a luggage capacity of between 429 and 1400 liters of the (back of the sofa with asymmetrical and Blast with two levers on the side panels of the compartment), considering the space below the floor, which maintains a round shape type of housing stock.

But that does not exist, replaced by a set of mobility. Beautiful transparent glass roof (Active), equipped with electrically operated curtain. The seats are quite spacious and comfortable, but the backrest can be strettino, then missing the central armrest tray, replaced in the Active version (the most equipped and the only one available with diesel engine) from a non-adjustable armrest and only for the driver.

The steering wheel is rather low, although adjustable, then there are as many as 19 compartments for items and two spaces in front of the passegggero. Behind two people are relatively comfortable, with the right leg room even if the front seats are not advanced. Two engines: a petrol milletre 100 bhp at 6000 rpm and 125 Nm at 4000, available with manual or seven-speed CVT (virtual), and a 1.4 turbo diesel 90 bhp at 3800 rpm with maximum torque of 205 Nm between 1800 and 2800 rpm with a 6-speed manual gearbox or robotized.

The dashboard is the multimedia system (optional) Toyota Touch touch screen that includes radio, CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth, USB port and a rear camera to the back, later also include a navigation system with customization options. The impression is going to drive a vehicle larger than actual size.

Access is easy and comfortable in the back and commands everyone to reach and intuitive. A key to the starter system with key less Entry & Smart Start (optional) and a small Diesel takes life pretty quietly. While small-displacement, the engine now pushes with a force and you find yourself traveling with high speed and the engine around 2000 rpm with good gaits.

The noise from the engine is contained in the cockpit and there is more than rolling and that due to the mirrors, that although a total of 0.297 Cx are felt a bit '. The gearbox is excellent, precise, with short grafts and maneuverability exemplary. The brakes suited to the tonnage of the To-S, although not perfect undetectable.

The estate is safe, despite the higher ground clearance, the To-S does not show instability, but a healthy and predictable behavior. Also forcing the pace, you get more than understeer, while overtaking a full load you can take advantage of the good extension that although the maximum power down the car offers.

Comfort is pretty good for the category, with an effective cushioning effect that is not to the detriment of the estate. Great attention to security: the To-S has 7 airbags, anti-whiplash seats, ABS and stability control, over the hood, which reduces the impact on pedestrians and a shell carefully designed to absorb the energy of the impact on different axes.

The Toyota Verso-S goes on sale in February, in standard and Active (load bed at two positions, steering wheel and leather gear knob, Toyota Touch and armrests front and rear) with prices starting at € 14,500 (petrol) up at 18,600 (Active Diesel), through the Active petrol from 16,000 €.

We are at levels Altin category, given that from April 1 lists also suffer an increase of 800 €. Be two accessory packs: Lounge (climate, dark rear windows, glass roof) and Style pack, which adds 16-inch alloy wheels, electric rear windows, headlights and rain sensors and the system key less.
