Volkswagen XL1: the car from 1 km to litro/100

At the Qatar Motor Show, Volkswagen presented a concept car XL1, the third evolution of the car from "1 liter per 100 km," personal dream of President Ferdinand Piech. This is the reply from Wolfsburg to the mobility of the future: the car consumes just 0.9 liters of diesel per 100 km and emits only 24 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The XL1 is a Volkswagen hybrid car Plug-In, already approved and equipped with the Euro 6 cylinder engine 800 hp TDI with 48, combined with an electric engine by 27 hp and the double-clutch gearbox DSG 7-speed. The electric motor is powered by lithium ion batteries and can travel in electric mode for up to 35 km.

In addition, the electric motor can be recharged while driving through, especially in regenerative braking system. The XL1 has a sporty concept, highlighted by the gullwing doors, LED headlights and rear wheel fairing. The car is 389 cm long, 167 cm wide and 116 cm high, while the wheelbase measures 222 cm.

The CRP monocoque or carbon fiber reinforced, lowers the weight of the car to 795 kg and the Cd to 0.18. As for performance, Volkswagen XL1 reaches 160 km / h top speed and accelerates from 0 to 100 in 11.9 seconds. Compared with the SDI concept 1L L1 2002 and 2009, TDI, Volkswagen presents the XL1 cabin for 2 people in standard configuration and not in tandem.

In addition, it has 100 liters of luggage capacity and the tank has 10 gallons of capacity. According to what the House of Wolfsburg, the Volkswagen version of the XL1 debut on the market in 2013.
