Smog alert in Milan, the blockade continues

The measures taken to Milan to reduce the concentration of smog in the air have not yet resulted in the desired benefits. The levels of PM10 levels above the alarm trigger now the second phase of the plan called "Clean Air". No longer just a Sunday walk, and then, but also block the weekly petrol cars Euro 1 and 2 and diesel Euro 3 and 4 in the Congestion Charge from 7:30 to 19:30.

Total stop, throughout the city at all hours, but for the most polluting cars such as petrol and diesel Euro 0 Euro 0, 1 and 2. But not all, for those in possession of the exception for use in the payment of the Congestion Charge triggered entry ticket. Go ahead instead for Euro 5 vehicles, those powered by LPG or CNG and electric ones.

Block traffic and then cover 18% of cars entering the area in total daily Congestion Charge, which will result in detention of some 13,500 cars. The drastic measure taken by the City of Milan will last at least until Wednesday, hoping to reach at least three consecutive days of concentration of fine particles within the limits allowed.

Who does not respect the restrictions will be subject to a penalty of 155 €. Fines that have already arrived to rain yesterday. The traffic jam is not in fact been observed from well 502 motorists who were promptly "punished" by the sweep check (3175). So walk on Sunday has led to an increase of 40% of subway passengers, the void in the stands of San Siro and a record turnout to the museums of Milan.

In the coming days will always be vigilant to preside over the 43 crossings in the Congestion Charge zone, responsible for offenders to recognize the vehicles, the cameras not being able to do the same. The Deputy Mayor Riccardo De Corato, however, has ensured that in recent days, the brigade will be more tolerant and that "any notice be given promptly.
