Audi says no to a city car, but think of the Q1

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has denied that the plans of the house there is the launch of a city car that was to be placed, according to rumors, behind the existing A1. Stadler, however, clarified that this does not mean that Audi does not provide for the implementation of other compact models. For some time it was rumored that Audi was studying a city car based on VW Up platform with Skoda and possibly also in the Seat.

However, in a statement to Automotive News, Stadler confirmed that he can not imagine a new model to predict precisely placed below the current entry-level A1. A decision which makes sense given that the A1 has allowed Audi to enter a new segment very interesting from the standpoint of prices: thus a more economic model is placed next to the already offered by Chevrolet, Ford and Volkswagen sister .

Nothing supermini, then, but Stadler says yes to a new compact crossover as the family "Q" is not yet complete. Even if you have not defined anything, probably will soon see an entry level model Q, which could be called Q1, and would divide the platform with the compact A1. News on the likely date back to Q1 2008 so the new version may go into production as early as next year.

You can try to imagine the new compact crossover is very similar in design to that Audi Steppenwolf concept unveiled in 2000.
