Mercedes-Benz CLS receives environmental certification

The Mercedes-Benz CLS has been given by TÜV Süd certifies a high environmental impact. The new model, on 29 January 2011 comes on the market, was awarded the environmental certification of the ISO standard 14062nd The award is based on a balance sheet, in which the environmental effects test from production through to operation and ELV recycling.

Looking at the entire life cycle of the Mercedes-Benz CLS by the production and use over 250 000 miles to the new model for recovery 30 percent less CO2 emissions than its predecessor to enter the market in 2004. With respect to total nitrogen oxide emissions, the reduction is 21 percent.

Also, the overall energy balance is positive: Using a life-cycle compared to the previous 27 percent of primary energy can be saved. This corresponds to the energy content of 9300 liters of gasoline. Large measure due to the significant reductions in consumption. An example: When gasoline CLS 350 Blue Efficiency decreases the average consumption over the previous of 10.1 liters (date of market introduction in 2004) to 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers is equivalent to a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 33 percent.

The CLS already meets from 1 January 2015 mandatory recycling rate of 95 percent by weight. A total of 61 components come with a total weight of 49 kg is used, which are made from high-quality recycled plastics. The mass of the approved recycled components from the previous model can be increased by 96 percent.

56 components with a total weight of just under 31 kilograms are produced using natural materials. The floor in the trunk for example, consists of a Pappwabenstruktur in the tank vent, the Mercedes engineers attacked with Holzkohlenkoks back to a raw material from nature. In addition to the CLS is already the models of the A, B, C, E and S-Class and GLK environmental certification from TÜV Süd received (ampnet / jri)
