The project dates back to 2008, when former owner General Motors decided to launch a compact SUV Saab, derived directly from the Cadillac SRX, with which it shares the platform and some engines. The engine range consists of two V6 engines made in the USA: the first from 3.0 liters and 265 hp, with performances by the House of 210 km / h top speed of 9 seconds to touch 100 km / h from standstill, the more powerful version is represented by the supercharged 2.8-liter twin-turbo twinscroll capable of delivering 300 hp and 400 Nm, available from 2000 rpm.
This powerful engine is able to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.6 seconds and reach 230 km / h top speed. In the second phase should debut also a source of BMW diesel engines are necessary to provide a commercial success in Europe. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive transfer case with XWD torque delivery between both axles.
In addition, this sophisticated traction is able to "talk" with the "Saab DriveSense" regulating according to need suspension, steering, gearbox, electronic stability control, traction and throttle response. The new Scandinavian SUV stands out for the minute details and the standard equipment segment Premium Car: among the many facilities available do not miss the brand new multimedia system with 8-inch screen embedded in the center console of their aeronautical design, and includes GPS navigation with 3D mapping, the rear parking camera and a sophisticated Bose sound system, with as many as 10 high-fidelity speakers.
The new Saab 9-4 X will be produced in the plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, along with the Cadillac SRX. The commercial debut is expected in the United States in May, while the European launch will take place only next August.
