Daihatsu away from the European market in 2013

Has not yet reached the final confirmation, but according to the latest rumors Daihatsu would leave the heads of the European market in 2013. A retreat of the car brand owned by Toyota due, according to leaked in recent days, both the high cost of imports, is not exactly thrilling sales. Daihatsu moreover does not have manufacturing facilities in Europe, which is why the Japanese cars are made in factories before being imported into the Old Continent with obvious fixed costs (customs duties), given the unfavorable exchange rate between euro and yen in the long run would have weighed too much on the profits of the automaker.

The other element, unequivocal, affects the sales volumes that have never reached the expected results. Suffice it to say that in Italy, in 2010, were registered just over 5,700 copies in the background of an economic crisis which hit the area and further the overall picture. Do not underestimate also the competition factor, represented by brands such as Korean KiaeHyundai which recently changed its business strategy by pushing the accelerator on a higher quality of construction, a key factor to break into a market, European, very careful and exacting.

No fear though, at least in the short term, for drivers who already have a Daihatsu in the garage as it will certainly kept the supply of parts and service models on the market. To date, the brand has in range models Heart, Sirion Trevis, Matter, and Terios Copen.
