The number of produced doubled Phaeton and Bentley bodies in comparison to 2009 to around 12 000 units. With around 7500 Phaeton bodies a top volume was reached. The Chemnitz engine plant exceeded 650 000 engines a year earlier to around 100 000 units. In this situation a modern TSI engines production.
The diesel engines that were built exclusively for the North American market, made as in the previous year from around 12 percent of total production. Since starting production in 1990, VW has been produced in Saxony, a total of around 3.7 million vehicles, nearly 10 million engines and 4.3 million balance shaft gears for engines.
