Chrysler also wants Fiat's share of Canada

After the refinancing of debt of 7.6 billion dollars that Chrysler had against the governments of the United States and Canada, Fiat could detect 1, 7% owned by Ottawa, for a value of $ 400 million. The move would follow the announced acquisition of the shares held by the United States, which will lead to the Lingotto American control of the House within days.

The possibility was disclosed directly by CEO Sergio Marchionne that the group is aiming to stride to a more likely merger of the Lingotto and the manufacturer of Michgan. For his part, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said he was available to the transaction even though Fiat has an option to purchase accordingly.

"Our government - said the charge of the department - was not born to own the shares of a car manufacturer. However, before making any decisions, we must keep in mind that every action must be done in the interest of Canadian taxpayers ". Meanwhile, they may just be happy with the fact that the group has repaid the loan to Ottawa (and Washington) had done to stave off bankruptcy, back in 2009, after negotiations lasted several months.
