Ford Fiesta RS WRC works driver Hirvonen to second place in Argentina

In a thrilling finale Mikko Hirvonen / Jarmo Lehtinen finished the Rally Argentina in second place. The Finns missed with their Ford Focus RS WRC victory by just 2.3 seconds. Jari-Matti Latvala / Miikka Anttila saw from a long time as the designated winner of the sixth season run and led the rally, as they had to stop prematurely their turbo-wheel drive vehicle with a damaged landing gear just before the end of the second stage.

They returned on Sunday to compete back and conquered even the seventh. Hirvonen had finished the Friday at the fourth position and moved in the course of Saturday prior to second place, 43.7 seconds from the leader - separately - Sébastien Ogier. As the Frenchman during the super-long examination of over 48 kilometers of opening on Sunday overturned and suffered a broken power steering, the fight for victory between Ogier, Hirvonen and Sebastien Loeb was reopened.

The works drivers of Ford started with a delay of 5.7 seconds as the third in the final examination television, which he completed behind Petter Solberg as the second fastest and was rewarded with two additional championship points. With this result, Hirvonen consolidated his pursuers position in the driver standings.
