For the 2012 Olympics, London will provide a fleet of hydrogen-powered taxi. In the meantime, is preparing to become increasingly ... electricity. Merit, in this case, the program Source London, a plan of charging stations for electric cars. These days, the mayor of the city, Boris Johnson, has launched the project, which involves placing 150 charging points.
The new posts, says Johnson, will be available to all owners of electric cars, which can access after paying an annual fee of 100 pounds (about 115 €). The modus operandi of the charging stations Source London have been made as simple as possible: users, in fact, will only have to park your electric car at one of the columns, pass a personal magnetic card into a scanner and recharge the batteries.
So far, London has more than 2,000 electric vehicles in circulation (according to one estimate, released in recent days by the same Johnson). For 2013, the Capital expects the location of further charging points 1150. According to the mayor of London, in just over two years on the territory of Greater London there will be no charging stations for electric vehicles and filling stations.
No shortage of facilities, in this sense: the buyers of zero-emission vehicles receive, at the time of the exemption from paying the Congestion Charge (the entry ticket in the metropolitan area) and pay no annual fee movement in addition to receiving government incentives to buy. This strategy has recently been enhanced by a survey conducted by Accenture, which has emerged as the still high price of electric cars (Nissan and Mitsubishi Leaf C-Zero, to name two models already available in Britain) is not seen as an insurmountable obstacle to the transition it from "traditional" electricity.
Widespread distribution and cost-charging stations have been identified from 63% of motorists surveyed as the most important factor when buying an electric car. For 51%, however, the motivation comes more from low running costs, over 65% is important to have free parking, 44% were attracted to the shows and toll exemptions to the payment of "stamp".
43%, finally, would like to go to the electric car "To have free access to bus lanes."
