According to rumors, Audi is preparing the return of the A2, advance as a concept car. The prototype of the long will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 (September 15 to 25). The aim of the German manufacturer would be appropriate to contrast the rival BMW i3 futuristic electric car, which in 2013 - along with the i8 - to inaugurate the brand new eco-friendly "i".

Aesthetically, the new Audi A2 should have the form of a compact MPV to offer the widest possible flexibility and modularity. The future model should also include the solution of the aluminum space frame, able to ensure maximum weight - necessary to contain energy consumption - and the correct torsional rigidity to offer maximum driving pleasure.

Should the project get the desired success, the House could even start with the four rings - along the lines of BMW - a family of electric vehicles under the brand "A2". The German group has in fact recently purchased a large number of wind turbines can provide in the near future the energy needed to produce electric-powered cars.

The problem of construction of the new model will be to keep the cost of production which will be reflected on the final list of A2, because among the factors that have curbed the success of the previous generation there was the very high cost of the car, because of ' use of advanced technologies such as the aforementioned aluminum frame.

The previous version, produced from 1999 to 2005, it was distributed in only 175,000 copies, despite the unique and innovative qualities that characterize it, such as extremely low power consumption combined with more than satisfactory performance. It is worth mentioning the 1.2 TDI version of the crew, which combined with low weight and excellent aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.25, stated an average consumption of 3 liters per 100 km / h paths, made without the use of engines electric.

For the moment Audi moving forward very fast on his way, and if the A2 concept should receive a good reception from the public and professionals, we could see it in dealerships by 2015.
