New Porsche Boxster, waiting in Detroit 2012

Preparing the third generation of the Porsche Boxster, which will debut officially at the Detroit Motor Show 2012. The new model will come from a totally new project and will deviate completely - both for aesthetics and for technical solutions - the next generation 911, waiting a few months ago at the IAA 2011.

Aesthetically, the Boxster is no longer a small 911, but is differentiated by the adoption of unique and original stylistic elements that characterize the design of the bumpers and headlights, while the windshield will be less inclined. The new home of the Zuffenhausen sports will take an unprecedented platform of 60 mm longer than the version it replaces, while the total length should reach 4.38 meters, or 37 mm more than at present.

The center of gravity and the front overhang will decrease by approximately 10 and 25 mm. The larger size will allow a more comfortable living space, especially with regard to the space dedicated to the legs of the passengers, but also a greater grip ensured by the most significant step.

In addition, the increase in size will not be the cause of an increase in mass of the car, unlike the use of lightweight materials and composite materials will allow a weight reduction of 1-5 kg. As for the engine department, the new Porsche Boxster, Cayman and hence the future, can rely on three different engines.

We start from the 2.9 liter six-cylinder engine that will increase its power from 255 to 270 hp, while peak torque of 270 Nm is a step higher we will find the 3.4 liters of "S" versions, capable of a power of 320 CV and a maximum torque of 360 Nm Both versions will be mated to a manual transmission to automatic or dual clutch PDK.

But the real surprise is the introduction of the Top of the range represented by a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 360-hp and 470 Nm of torque. In the future this engine could be offered in various steps of power so you can replace all the previous range of engines.
