Audi Trimaran Concept: The four rings of the sea

Audi presented the prototype design of a futuristic luxury yacht called the Audi Trimaran concept. The project is a collaborative effort between the German manufacturer and Stefanie Behringer, a young designer who created the futuristic prototype as part of his thesis. The concept, a 15 meters long and 6.40 meters wide, is a trimaran, formed by a larger central hull and two side sections and can accommodate up to 12 people.

the controls are placed in front of a bridge from the automobile industry, protected by a large panoramic glass windscreen. The trimaran uses an innovative hybrid, characterized by two powerful TDI diesel engines that can use the extra power of many electric motors. These also feed two small watercraft removable, housed within the side hulls.

When the boat is sailing at low speed, such as in port, has a top speed of 6 knots (11 km / h) only with the help of electric motors, but if you exceed 30 knots (54 km / h), enter according also turbocharged diesel engines that act as generators for the batteries of electric propulsion.

So far the House has not indicated whether the Ingolstadt Trimaran Concept will follow commercial or if it remains just an exercise in style, similar to the previous boat and call Audi R8 Catamaran in honor of the sport.
