BMW prepares future X5, X6 e. .. X7

There's some interesting speculation concerning the plans of BMW in the SUV segment, a niche market in which the German believed a lot in recent years and which still seems to point in the near future. The latest news about the next generation of the BMW X5 and X6, which should be submitted by 2014 after suffering what could be called a real "slimming".

In fact, an objective way for engineers who are working on two models would be to make an effective weight reduction in order to have a positive impact on consumption and emissions. In this sense, in fact, the voices speak of a weight of about 150 kg less than the models currently on the market, the BMW X5 that the future may weigh a total of 1,814 kg.

On the engines could be the introduction of two four-cylinder engines, one petrol and one diesel with power close to 240 horsepower, which should add up to six and eight-cylinder currently found under the hood of X5 and X6. Would also be provided for the now ubiquitous environmental variables, which translate into a BMW hybrid plug-in by about 345 horses and an all-electric from just under 110 hp.

Still on the subject of SUVs, it seems that BMW is going back home to talk about the X7, which is what should have been the top model in the X series but seemed to be finished by the wayside. The project was closed a few years ago because of the crisis in the automotive sector, which had German managers to favor a more cautious and avoid investing resources into new business models whose success is uncertain.

But today, thanks to the modest but steady recovery in the sector, some items would come back into vogue the production of X7, although it remains uncertain how much and what will be preserved in the model originally scheduled to debut in 2013.
