Renault plant in Cleon: visit the factory of the new 1.6 dci 130 Energy

We had the opportunity to visit the Renault motor plant in Cleon, the most important for production volumes of the French giant. There is also assembled the new 4-cylinder turbo diesel 1.6 dci 13th (R9M code), the first to assemble the technologies of the family "Energy" that we will speak soon. The plant, located in the region of Seine-Maritime, has opened its doors in 1958 and has its own foundries (January there is a new aluminum foundry casting under pressure).

Production at the new 1.6 turbodiesel engine is supposed to represent, since 2012, approximately 30% (or 150,000 units) of engines produced annually from the site. Today, the industrialization of the 4-cylinder 450 people involved in the establishment. In 2010, the plant, which employs 3,358 workers, produced 470,120 engines and 690,199 transmissions.

But Cléon are also assembled the 2.0 dCi diesel engine (130 to 180 hp), brought by the families Mégane Renault, Koleos, Laguna, Espace and Latitude, but also by Nissan Qashqai on, the 2.3 dCi engine (100 to 150 hp, mounted on the commercial vehicle Master), the V6 dCi Renault-Nissan alliance.

This version is available in 235 hp and 240 hp at Laguna Coupé Renault Latitude, along with a 238 hp version longitudinally mounted on Nissan Navarra Pathfinder and Infiniti EX, FX and G. But the factory also began the 2.0 petrol engine of Clio RS and Megane RS 2.0 Turbo, as well as 5 and 6-speed transmissions.

It 's interesting to note that 60% of the product and gets under the hood of Nissan cars, Dacia, Samsung, Infiniti, Suzuki and Opel. Cleon in the near future will be involved in the construction of new housing 3 cylinder, electric motor and its control of Zoe's rejuvenated 2.3 dci engine for commercial vehicles.

The plant, with a view to eco-design, is characterized by low environmental impact: all equipment and containment are based on gathering and isolate leaks toxic, while the progressive implementation of electrical and heating systems (this 'from last September) has allowed self-employed in recent years to drastically reduce energy consumption.

Special water purification systems, the specific sorting of waste materials (15,000 tons per year) and specific storage system of chemicals contribute to Cleon a sustainable reality.
