Used: U.S. boom for Japanese brands

In the absence of new cars available in the United States increase the transactions of second hand. A research done at national level showed that in the first four months of 2011, 7,158,917 cars were sold used, with an increase of 10% over the same period in 2010 and a peak of 2,650,619 units in April (more than 14 % year on year).

The reasons for this boom? Reduce the production of new cars (especially from Japan) and gasoline prices are always highest among the causes of this trend surprising that even the dealers. "It 's one thing that I've ever seen in 27 years in business," said a dealer in San Bernardino, Calif., noting that prices are rising.

"The same car six months ago was selling for $ 5,000, now sell it to 6,500, especially if it's a Toyota or a Honda." And this can be applied to all dealers in the States, which see also reduce the fleet for sale because of the huge demand. A rise has been the price of Hyundai (an average of over 22%) and Ford, which recorded a plus 14% on average.

Based on this study, it is expected that the market value of used cars for 2011 could reach 13.1 million units. With regard to the category of vehicles, the value of used compact cars in April rose by 17.7% from a year earlier, while the "midsize" rose by 13.3%). In fall, however, the average prices of SUVs and pick-up: less than 3.5 and less than 2.7%, the first to serve the high price of fuel.

Even in Italy, sales of used cars is growing, as evidenced by the figures released by CarNext, the company specializes in selling used cars from rental fleets in long-term LeasePlan Italy.
