Brunetta: Here's how to cut the blue car

Having monitored the blue car in Italy, the Minister of Public Administration, Renato Brunetta, has issued a directive on management of this fleet, as well as to reduce the number and the high operating costs, with the ultimate goal of cut spending by at least 50% by 2012 compared to the claims in 2009, when to buy, rent and keep the blue cars there was an outflow of € 4 billion from the state.

The minister believes that the 90,000 vehicles in this category should be and can be cut. For this, the government will have to select the means to cut, trying to focus the all-inclusive "(maybe hire with or without driver) than the formula car ownership, taking into account the capacity, power, consumption, the insurance premiums and maintenance expenses, which must not go further than the requirements for the use of cars, because those are less than 10,000 that came to the politicians, with the remaining which are the prerogative of the various offices, executives and bureaucrats.

To cut costs, the charge of the department proposes to involve society ditaxi, for transport of personnel at a lower cost, perhaps alongside the system of shared cars, known as car sharing, which would first lead to a reduction in staff may be used differently by government through a series of training courses aimed at their re-employment.
