Kia presents electric car trial Naimo

Kia shows at the Seoul Motor Show (1, 4/10/2011) for the first time its new concept vehicle Naimo. The electric CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) was created by Kia's international design team in Seoul. The Naimo - the name of the Korean word "Ne-mo" ("rectangular") is inspired - is to connect Korean tradition with technical innovation.

Electric vehicle is driven by a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with 80 kW / 109 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The Naimo has a top speed of 150 km / h. The battery has a capacity of 27 kilowatt hours and is located under the luggage compartment floor. This "twin-pack" battery pack works with the LiPoly technology (lithium ion polymer).

With a battery charge, the Naimo a range of up to 200 kilometers. To reduce energy consumption, the study particularly aerodynamic 20-inch alloy wheels fitted. In fast charge mode (50 kW), the battery can be charged within 25 minutes 80 percent of their capacity. In the normal charging mode (3.3 kW) after 5.5 hours the battery is fully charged.

The exterior design stand out from the optical unit from the windscreen and side windows, the asymmetrically split glass roof and LED headlamps and taillights in the dot pattern. Especially the Asian celadon pottery has influenced the design of the Naimo strong. Their asymmetric shape characterized the glass roof design, and the body color of Naimo is similar to the typical celadon jade green.

Instead of conventional wiper take the Naimo air nozzles under the windshield, the wiper function. The exterior mirrors have been replaced by miniature cameras that are integrated into the A-pillars. Inside, there are many materials processed by hand. The doors and floors are covered with Korean oak, for the headliner was Korean Hanji paper used.

In addition to these traditional materials, there are modern elements such as the instrument panel in the form of a Toledo, Display (Transparent Organic LED) - this is completely transparent when turned off - as well as connections for entertainment and communication devices. The Naimo is - according to the studies Venga EV and POP - the third electric vehicle, the Kia presented within a year.

With the 3.89 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.59 meters high will study the Korean automaker to explore the market potential of an emission-free, five-door and four-seat city car in the next niche segment. Thanks to the generous wheelbase (2.65 meters) and short overhangs Naimo offers plenty of head, leg and shoulder room.

Due to the lack of B-pillar and the rear-hinged rear doors of the entrance and exit is easy. The three-part tailgate according to the needs of different approaches to the large luggage space.
