From Tuesday, May 3, motorbikes and scooters can move freely on some lanes of Rome, until now reserved for buses and taxis. In disclosing the news to the Mobility has been the commissioner of the town, Antonello Aurigemma, who also pointed out what are the traits on which we can move on with the two wheels (but only when the engine): Sangallo the Tiber, near the historic center, Viale Marconi, the road leading from the train to Trastevere district of Eur, Via Cristoforo Colombo, the main road that leads to the euro; Largo di Torre Argentina, in the historic center.
The commissioner also pointed out that this is a trial lasting three months, to test the usefulness of the measure and any contraindications. After this time, the Capitol will consider whether to renew the measure, and maybe even extend it to other roads. The hope of those who use the scooter every day is that in these days to be arranged very clear signs that specify whether the ban applies or not, just like for years in other cities of Italy - like Milan - where two-wheeled vehicles since the nineties can pass on nearly all taxi and bus lanes with traffic signs provided.
So far they have shown some opposition to unions representing taxi drivers.
