The Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has sold in the fiscal year 2010 (April 2010-March 2011) 1.105 million vehicles worldwide. Compared to the fiscal year 2009, this represents an increase of 15 percent. Profit after tax increased by 228 percent to 15.6 billion yen (about 130 million euros). In Europe, the company could sell 218 000 vehicles (+29%).
Reasons for this include the high demand for the compact crossover ASX, which started production of the Outlander in Europe and the resurgent market in Russia. The largest market for Mitsubishi Motors is Asia. In China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, demand was particularly high.
The outcome of 629 000 units were helped by the results from South America, especially here in Brazil.
