New Audi A6 Avant, spied during testing

While the new Audi A6 sedan arrives in our dealerships, the manufacturer of the four rings continues to test the next generation the Audi A6 Avant station wagon variation of the premium sedan segment is made by the German manufacturer. The future "family" of Ingolstadt has been immortalized in fact, during some tests carried out in conditions that seem extreme, surrounded by a barren and harsh environment.

The few, but precious pictures available to us show the future German Station with almost no camouflage, so reveals a clear line of upright and tilted back very unusual boot lid, or the two elements that differentiate the sedan from the aesthetically station wagon. The 1,660 liters of luggage volume of the previous version seem to reach the new model, despite the line of starvation sporty rear window that has been applied to the ends of a novel aerodynamic spoiler.

The rear lights have an unusual form of subtle and elusive and are of course the now classic featuring LED technology. Just like the saloon from which it derives, which records a weight of 80 kg less than the old edition, the new A6 Avant uses the brand new MLB modular aluminum frame that will ensure a much lower weight than the main competition from Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series Touring.

The weight will benefit from lower operating costs, enhanced by a series of electronic devices such as the latest generation Stop & Start and the electric power steering. As the supply of engines, the Audi A6 Avant should follow most of the engines that we saw on his debut four-door version.

The range opens with the 2.0-liter TDI with 177 hp V6 followed by two 3.0-liter TDI declined in power from 204 and 245 hp. As for gasoline, at launch you can opt for the 2.8-liter FSI with 204 hp and the powerful 300 hp 3.0-liter TFSI, whereas in a later debut the brand new turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that will equip the Sport-S6.

As per tradition, the new Audi model can be fitted - depending on the version and type of lighting - both front-wheel drive only with the full four named. As for transmissions available, the future will rely on a station Teutonic six-speed manual transmission, on the multitronic continuously variable named, or alternatively on the technology S-tronic automatic gearbox.

The Audi A6 Avant official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 (September 15 to 25), while the arrival on the international markets is not expected before the end of this year.
