The Turin-Asti-Torino reborn after 116 years

Italy, along with France, Germany and England, is a European country with very deep and ancient traditions car. It is ours, among others, the world premiere of the internal combustion engine thanks to the patents of Barsanti and Matteucci, dating back to 1800. Italy also boasts several firsts in sports, in fact the first car race held on the Peninsula dates back to May 18, 1895, less than a year after the Paris-Rouen of the July 22, 1894: Absolutely the first two sporting events on four wheels (or three-wheel, given the presence of many tricycles) organized in Europe.

The Italian was the Turin-Asti-Torino, an event which revived a few years ago thanks to the passion registry Ancetres Club Italy, dedicated to the commemoration of the soul classic cars built before 1918. The novelty is that the edition of 2011 - scheduled for June 24 to 26 - there will be a great support of ASI (Italian Historical Automotoclub) to restore breathing and due importance to the event.

It 'also right that the collectors, the real custodians of these precious vehicles, have the joy of being able to display and use on the road, while contributing to their knowledge by the public. Why are the cars that have written the first pages of the great book of the car. The Turin-Asti-Turin will be an opportunity to see action in vehicles which are unfortunately almost always stop in the museum.

In other countries the manifestations of so-called "Ancetres and veterans" are quite common, while in Italy the presence of such vehicles is limited to the willingness of collectors who participate in meetings among younger, high-performance cars. The Turin-Asti-Torino "original" was created at the initiative of a European citizen as an "experiment running to power cars." Only five participants via: Simone Federmann, an omnibus with Daimler, Cletus Brena, with a Benz car, Horace Sclaverani, with a break of steam Shops Savigliano, Giovanni Battista Ceirano and such a Wolfmüller, both with a "bicycle" motor.

At the start of the race there was Gottlieb Daimler, to Turin to contact some people in relation to its patents. The winner was Federmann, back in Turin after having covered the 93 km route at an average of 15.500 km / h (yes you read correctly, 15 per hour) and 6 hours away. In place of honor Ceirano, the third and final bicyclo Wolfmüller.
