The cars of the Royal Wedding: British pride that was

Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Range Rover for the Royal Wedding British car industry was in full force. Too bad that the British now there is only the memory and, perhaps, regret. Yes because all the Gotha of the car now belongs to his Majesty to foreigners. But let us return briefly to the wedding.

The nearly two billion viewers around the world were able to admire the rare Rolls-Royce Phantom IV 1954 (reallizzata only in 18 specimens) who accompanied the bride to the altar. To the Queen with a Bentley Arnage special equipment, and many guests are dropped from elegant Jaguar XJ limousine.

Behind the real self always in mind the Range Rover that comes with the Royalty Protection Squad, and finally could not miss the Aston Martin DB6 Volante chosen by the newlyweds for a "revolution" in the crowd. Not one of these glorious English brands belongs more in British society, from the Rolls, undisputed symbol of luxury and elegance, which is now owned by BMW.

Bentley instead of the eternal rivals are under the Volkswagen Group, while Jaguar and Land Rovers were acquired from Indiana Tata. If the first two cases there was talk of German invasion, for the last two you can almost speak of humiliation: the former Indian colony, achieved independence, won the madreapatria.

An indigestible morsel to swallow in the name of jobs saved and the survival of farms. Only Aston Martin, after a long stay in the Ford group, seems to have regained British citizenship through a consortium of investors led by Britain's David Richards (Ford still retains some of the shares).

Who knows, perhaps ideal for connecting to an industry that no longer have been used in most classic cars. This decision has certainly also added charm and elegance to the ceremony of the century.
