Auto sales: minus sign also in April

The long-awaited month of April does not bring good results or quell'inversione trends that the automotive industry was expecting. A year after the end of government incentives, the Italian car market marks the 13th consecutive drop reaching 157,000 units sold, a decrease of 2.2% over the same month of 2010, the first in which those who bought a car not could no longer count on the state.

Whereas the first quarter of 2011, then, the data are even worse with 672,000 new registrations in less than 12% over the same period last year. Fiat does not laugh in this situation: in April - always seeing the beautiful country - the 45,000 cars sold represent less than 8.5% with a market share which fell from 30.73 to 28.71%.

A laugh - or at least smile - are Volkswagen and Renault, which are growing by 6.33 and 13.3%. But smiles also Alfa Romeo, an increase of 49.47% on month in April 2010 helps to mitigate the debacle of the Fiat group, which saw declines for Lancia. These last two brands, has had even more evident in France: the first - thanks to Juliet - rose by 72.2% while the latter dropped by 50 compared to an overall decrease of 11 national, 2% 169,451 units.

The Fiat group has decreased by 17.1%, still better than Renault and Peugeot, who have lost their home in 19.1 and 21.1%.
