Bosch opens 1.4-MW PV plant in Bari

The auto component sector aims to reduce CO2 emissions. Bosch in particular has recently opened plant in Modugno, near Bari, a new 1.4-megawatt photovoltaic power. It is 14,000 square feet of photovoltaic panels, with an investment of € 4.4 million, will help to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% of this which is the largest production plant of the automotive industry and one of existing in Puglia larger on the national territory with regard to the components.

But Bosch wants to get serious and aims to expand this facility, which will provide the energy needed to operate the plant where up to now have been produced about 26 million injection pumps for diesel fuel (including 2 million in 2010 ) for diesel common rail, 20% of the world total. Among the firms employing them is the group Fiat, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Mercedes, Nissan, Opel, PSA, Renault, Saab.

This launch is part of a broader project aimed at creating photovoltaic systems in factories, for which Bosch has invested € 8 million. Of the ten interested in the plant, two are in Italy: one is precisely to Modugno, the other is in Carpi, near Modena. These investments are carried out in parallel with respect to savings - where possible - the use of energy in the workplace without affecting production rates.
